Course Rating Committee

Course Rating Committee Mission and Responsibilities

The WGAWP has a long history of being active in support of the USGA Course Rating program.  The organization was an early adopter and began offering course rating services to our member clubs as early as the 1950's.  For many years, the WGAWP was the sole body that provided USGA course ratings for the women's tees for our member clubs.

About ten years ago the WGAWP began collaborating with the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association relative to course ratings.  Now course ratings for all tees are handled by joint teams of West Penn and WGAWP volunteers.

Claudette Graham leads one of the Course Rating Teams for West Penn Golf Association and has been certified by the USGA for course rating.  Other members of the committee have attended USGA course rating seminars and are gaining expertise by participating in ratings.

Courses are normally rated at least every six years on a rotating schedule or at the request of the club, particularly after course changes have been introduced.

In 2017, the WGAWP Board recognized that this Committee has been fully incorporated into the West Penn Golf Association Course Rating Committee and decided to no longer consider it a WGAWP Standing Committee.  The WGAWP members who participate in course rating are recognized below.
