Class of 2018

The West Penn Golf Association recently inducted four new members in it's Western Pennsylvania Hall of Fame including local amateur and professional standout Missie Berteotti.

Berteotti, who started playing golf at the age of 10 at Valley Brook Country Club, credits her family and Ray Gafford as the individuals having most influenced her future and career in golf.

She won three straight WGAWP titles, back-to-back Pennsylvania State championships (1980-81) and reached the quarterfinals of the U.S. Amateur in 1984.

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Berteotti graduated from Upper St. Clair High School and attended the University of Miami on a full scholarship.  Her collegiate career was highlighted by earning medalist honors and leading Miami to the NCAA Team Championship in 1984.

She played 14 years on the LPGA Tour, getting her tour card on her first attempt in 1986. Her lone victory on tour came in 1993 winning the Ping Welch's Classic in Boston.  Over the course of her career, she earned over $1 million and posted top 10 finishes in all four majors.

Berteotti left the tour to start a family and transition to her other passion: teaching.  She is an author and an LPGA performance coach specializing in junior golf, mental training, fitness and a business golf academy for women.  Missy also speaks across the country to leaders in corporations and associations about communicating effectively on and off of the golf course.

The other inductees include PGA tour professional Rocco Mediate, Oakmont course designer Henry C. Fownes and Oakmont professional Emil Loeffler.
