Kristen Obush (Ligonier) successfully defended her WGAWP title at Chartiers Country Club by coming from behind in the final round to post 235 for 54 holes.

This year's championship featured a new format in which qualifiers for the championship flight played 3 rounds of stroke play that included their qualifying scores in the Bobby Cruickshank Memorial Tournament.  Those not in the the championship flight had their Cruickshank scores converted to gross Stableford points and went on to play an additional round of Stableford in  flights.

Abigail Veitmeier (Chartiers) won the Bobby Cruickshank Memorial qualifying event posting 75, edging out Jane Wymer (Butler) by two strokes.  Ligonier's Carolyn Morford took Low Net honors with a 69.

After the second day of play, the top four players in the field: Vietmeier, Obush, Wymer and Laura Hilger, were within four strokes of each other but Obush shot a stellar 72 in the closing round to overtake them all.  Hilger (Treesdale) was the runner up in a match of cards with Vietmeier at 242.  Carolyn Morford snagged the low net award for the championship flight

The remaining players were placed in flights according to their handicap indexes.  Ann Vanzant (Valley Brook) won the 2nd Flight, Abby Vollmer won the 3rd Flight, Karen Casper won Flight 4 and Pam Jasiewicz won the 5th Flight.

Many thanks to the staff at Chartiers and the WGAWP tournament administrators and volunteers that ensured a smooth-running event.  Complete results can be found under the Tournament>Championship tab on the WGAWP website.
