Congratulations go out to Missie Berteotti on qualifying for the inaugural U. S. Senior Women's Open on June 18th at Chicago Golf Club in Wheaton IL.  The event will feature a number of former U.S. Women's Open champions including Legends Tour members Pat Bradley, Laura Davies, JoAnne Carner, Juli Inkster, Betsy King Liselotte Neumann, Patty Sheehan and Hollis Stacey in the filed of 120 players.

This event is a brand new USGA tournament for any female professional or amateur golfer who is 50 years of age and has a handicap index not exceeding 7.4.  It parallels the U.S. Senior Open for men.

Players competing in this year's Open advanced through 17 sectional qualifying sites as well as by exemptions granted by the USGA. Over 460 entries were received.

When the USGA announced the establishment of the U.S. Senior Women’s Open in 2015, the impetus was to serve golfers of every demographic. From July 12-15 at Chicago Golf Club, many of the pioneers who helped transform women’s golf will once again have the opportunity to compete for a national championship.

“We’re thrilled by the response our USGA champions have had to this inaugural championship, and know Chicago Golf Club will provide an outstanding venue for fans to watch some of the game’s greats tee it up on what will now be senior women’s golf’s grandest stage,” said Mike Davis, USGA CEO. “The consistent growth in women’s golf has been inspiring, and we hope this inaugural event is just one of many great new moments for this important segment of the game.”

Missie Berteotti, an Upper St. Clair graduate, played 14 seasons on the LPGA tour before returning to Western Pennsylvania to teach and coach golf.  She won three Western (WGAWP) titles in addition to two Pennsylvania State titles. She was recently announced as an inductee into the Western Pennsylvania Golf Hall of Fame along with former PGA player Rocco Mediate, Oakmont course designer Henry C. Fownes and Emil Loeffler, former Oakmont professional and designer of many local golf courses.

We wish Missie the very best of luck in this exciting event!

Note:  Berteotti completed four rounds at +17 in 36th position.  Hall of Famer Laura Davies finished at 16-under to beat runner-up Juli Inkster by 10 strokes.
