Graham Elected President of WPGA

First Female President of West Penn

Claudette Graham, Allegheny, was elected President during the West Penn Golf Association's annual meeting at Montour Heights Country Club on September 19. She succeeds Mark Caliendo of Montour Heights as the 98th WPGA President in the Association’s storied and lengthy history.

Graham is the first woman to serve as WPGA President and the tenth from Allegheny Country Club.

The remaining officers are Tim Slavish, Pittsburgh Field Club, Vice President; Rud VanHorn, Hickory Heights, Secretary; and Dan Johnston, Treasure Lake, Treasurer.

Graham was first elected to the Executive Committee in 2009. She is a long-time volunteer for both the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association, the Women’s Golf Association of Western Pennsylvania, and the Pennsylvania State Women’s Golf Association. She has been involved in many Association activities and committees including Handicapping, Hall of Fame, and Governance, and has served as a Course Rating Captain since 2002. For WGAWP, she has served as a board member in 1994-95, chair of Course Rating Committee since 2002, and she served as chair of the 2013 Nominating Committee. And with PSWGA, Graham served as a board member from 2001-04 and as secretary from 2004-06.

Graham is a retired pharmacist. A native of Derry, she graduated from Derry Area High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh where she received a B.S. in Pharmacy. She was instrumental in merging WGAWP course rating and handicapping responsibilities with the WPGA.

Newly elected to the Executive Committee are Bill Fallon, Oakmont, Mary Beth Morrissey, Connoquenessing, and Lou Tripodi, Pinecrest. In addition to Caliendo, Randy McCombs of Fox Chapel and Tim Nettles of St. Clair also retired from the Executive Committee.
