Thank you Ann Vanzant!

The presentation of the Volunteer Recognition Award is an opportunity to thank a member who goes above and beyond expectations to support and guide our organization.  For a group that relies heavily on the volunteerism of the membership, her countless hours of time and dedication deserve this special recognition.  This year, the WGAWP Board is pleased to thank Annie Vanzant with this Volunteer Recognition honor.

You might know Annie as a playing partner, a team match opponent or having been a satisfied shopper at the Oakmont Pro Shop where customer service is a given. You might not realize, however, the extent of her dedication to our organization.

Annie has been a consistent presence on our Prize Committee and has served as Chairman too many times to count.  It is a huge undertaking to select, order and distribute all of those prizes that you might have received and enjoyed.  The credit goes to Annie.

She has been a strong supporter of our Junior program, serving on the committee since 2006.  She also contributes her time to the Junior Scholarship Committee since it's inception in 2014.  Annie encourages young golfers to love the game and compete.  She often provides transportation to and from events.  She finds great favors to serve as reminders of their participation.  When the Junior clinic is hosted at Oakmont, it is Annie who assembles the wonderful bag of goodies that thrill the girls and make their parents envious.  Annie is a great mentor for our young golfers and there is no better example of that than Mia Kness, one of our most accomplished young golfers.

Vanzant has also served as her team's captain at Valley Brook and is on the current nominating committee.  And if that wasn't enough, she serves on the Board of the Pennsylvania State Women's Golf Association.

We are fortunate to have Annie among our ranks!  Congratulations and many thanks!!
