Womens Golf Association of Western Pennsylvania

The 2016 recipients of the "You Betcha" junior scholarships are Rachel Sudo and Samantha Shumaker as announced by Junior chairperson Susie Perrin.  

The “You Betcha" Scholarship was started in conjunction with the Women’s Golf Association of Western Pennsylvania and the family of the late Dr. Ann Buck, a Past President of the WGAWP, as a way to provide participants in WGAWP Junior events with financial assistance for college. The Scholarship Committee is pleased to offer assistance to qualified participants who have demonstrated exceptional merit, citizenship, academic achievement as well as service and commitment to the mission of the WGAWP. A $2,000 scholarship will be awarded based on the selection criteria for a maximum of 2 participants.

Thirteen of our junior members participated in the WPIAL championships recently held at Treesdale Golf and Country Club.  Caroline Wrigley enjoyed a one-stroke victory over Mia Kness to win the AAA title.  Both girls will move on to regional PIAA qualifying at Tom's Run.  Two-time winner Olivia Zambrano was denied a "three-peat" in AA competition but will move on to play in the next round.
