The WGAWP Board is happy to share with the membership some recent decisions of the Board that should be of interest to all of you.

For several years now, our organization has experienced a drop in both membership and participation in tournaments.  We have suspended scheduling of a number of events due to lack of interest.  It is for the best interests of the organization and our member clubs to have a healthy and thriving organization. 

Handicap Qualification Change: 

To encourage more membership, the Board has approved changing the qualification handicap index to 21.4 from 19.4 effective July 1, 2016.  Handicap Chairman at the clubs have been notified and should be prepared to assist newly qualified golfers submit applications.

2017 New Events:

Our recent history has shown that our membership has the most interest in team events.  For 2017, the Board has approved two new events.  The first team event will be referred to as “One & One”.   It is a four member team with scoring based on one gross score and one net score (not the same ball as the gross score).  This provides a different challenge for members to set their teams.

The other event is a mixed team event where the team consists of two WGAWP members and two male partners who belong to WGAWP clubs.  Members form their own Team.  The scoring will be one best net ball of the members and one best net ball of the male partners.  A twist on the traditional better-ball formats.

We have made the announcement about the new events early so that we get some interest from our member clubs in hosting these events in 2017.
