The USGA has selected The Kahkwa Club as the host site for the 2016 U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur Championship on September 9-15.

Kahkwa, a Western member club, was selected for its "devotion to sustaining and growing women's golf by hosting previous championships, and this commitment is only further emphasized by its challenging course which will sufficiently test the nation's best female mid-amateurs," said Thomas J. O'Toole Jr, USGA vice president and chairman of the Championship Committee.

The 2016 U.S. Women's Mid Am will be the first one held in Pennsylvania since 1990 at Allegheny Country Club where Carol Semple Thompson, competing on her home course, defeated Page Marsh Lea 3-and-1 to win the first of her two titles.

The Mid Amateur Championship originated in 1987 to provide a competitive experience for amateurs age 25 and older whose handicap does not exceed 9.4.

Fox Chapel Golf Club, one of twenty-six qualifying sites for the event, will host 73 entrants on Thursday August 25.

Western members who meet the qualifying standards are encouraged to apply to this esteemed event.  Application can be made at www.usga.org
