The 2016 WGAWP golf season got off to a great start with the annual Spring Meeting at South Hills Country Club (site of this year's Championship).  President Corinne Lacich and members of the Executive Board unveiled their hard work over the winter as each member presented their reports to the attendees.  A brief summary of the key points is contained in this article but PLEASE take the time to open and read the documents at the end of this article to familiarize yourself with the policy changes that will be enacted.

Registration for ALL events is now open.  Use the link on the home page or under the tournament tab.  Although events are listed in the yearbook, you might like the "At-a-Glance" version to download and print located at the end of this article.

Each member of the Executive Board presented a report, the summary of each is contained in the Spring Meeting powerpoint link.  It includes changes to the way that flights will be determined in the Championship, exciting events for Juniors, the announcement of an event that will now offer a medallion, the addition of a member club (and the loss, unfortunately, of three others), field limitations for selected shotgun events, format changes to the popular Buck Cup and a new definition of "Super Senior"!

The Board also tackled the ticklish subject of "slow play" with a policy that puts the responsibility for maintaining pace of play squarely on the players in the group.  To that end, scorecards for stroke play/tee time events will display pace of play times for each hole and the finishing time for the round will be recorded when the flag is replaced on the 18th green.  It is hoped that this will shorten playing times that have become so long as to affect member participation and course usage by the clubs that graciously permit us access to their courses.  PLEASE read the details of this policy in the document entitled "What is New for 2016" and make the round enjoyable for everyone.  Amendments to the withdrawal policy and permissions for cell phone usage on the course can be found in the same document.

Wanda McGarry (PSWGA) encouraged participation in the State Amateur/Senior/Super Senior tournament at Saucon Valley (August 10-13) and the Western Division Four Ball at Butler on September 22.  The link to the State association is located at the bottom right of this home page.

Matt Ruczinko, tournament director the the West Penn Golf Association, answered questions about USGA rules changes (which are summarized on the home page of our website)  Be sure to read about the ways in which our collaboration with West Penn is benefitting the WGAWP and providing a permanent "home" for our organization.

Kudos to the delegate and staff at South Hills for the lovely luncheon.
