New Board Members Installed

The 2015 WGAWP season came to its official end with the annual Fall Meeting held at Oakmont Country Club.  The theme for the morning was "volunteerism" presented from three perspectives.

USGA official John Copies opened the meeting with a discussion of preparations for the upcoming U.S. Open (June 16-19) at Oakmont Country Club.  Merchandising, parking, hospitality, scoring and decor planning have already begun but nothing is more important to this event than the 5000+ volunteers that will assist in many facets of event administration.  You may offer your time (a four shift commitment is requested) by signing up through your local club (who "sponsor" a hole) or contacting Colleen Meyers who is coordinating volunteer efforts for the tournament.

Outgoing president Mary Beth Morrissey continued the theme of "volunteerism" in her final address by thanking the many members who give their time on the Executive Board and committees, work at tournaments and serve as delegates and handicap chairs at their clubs. Her executive report, in addition to reports from all Board and Committee chairpersons, are available on the home page.

Finally, Vice President Corinne Lacich recognized Terry Kenneweg (Shannopin) with the Volunteer Appreciation Award.  Kenneweg is the first recipient of this recognition, a nod to the importance of volunteers to the success and future of our organization.

Sheila Kassel (Nominating Committee) presented the nominees for the 2015-2016 Board of Directors who were unanimously accepted and installed:

President, Corinne Lacich, Diamond Run (two year term)
Vice President, Christine Haythorn, Nevillewood (two year term)
Director, Maria Jarrett, Green Oaks (two year term)
Director, Susie Perrin, Westmoreland (two year term)
Director, Beth Szymczak, Treesdale (two year term)
Director, Betty Minnotte, Longue Vue (one year term)

Outgoing President Mary Beth Morrissey passed the gavel to newly-installed President Corinne Lacich and thanked outgoing Directors Serena Gozion and Mary Ellen Maher for their service to the organization.

Virginia Frew Wright Players of the Year received their awards from Past President Barbara Russell.  Jane Wymer and Mia Kness each earned 12 points during stroke play tournaments this season to share the honor for the first time in Western history.

Prizes from  various stroke events were distributed by Ann Van Zant and Team Play Division winners received their plaques.
