2014 Annual Spring Meeting

The Women's Golf Association of Western Pennsylvania held its Spring Meeting on Wednesday April 16 at Edgewood Country Club.  Members, delegates, alternate delegates, handicap chairmen and team captains were in attendance for this annual spring ritual to hear reports from the Executive Board, attend informational breakout sessions and re-connect with fellow golfers while enjoying a delicious luncheon.  Kudos to Delegate Renee Quinn, Alternate Delegate Karen Casper and the staff at Edgewood for coordinating an outstanding event.

President Mary Beth Morrissey welcomed the attendees to begin the business portion of the meeting.  Vice President and Tournament Director Corinne Lacich followed with a slide presentation that highlighted the procedural changes that the Board has adopted for play this season (details can be found under the Tournament tab or in the Home Page News section of the website) and two exciting new competitions that have been added to the calendar.

Reports from Assistant Tournament Director Serena Gozion (information about upcoming Two Day events), Handicap Chair Joanne McHolme (please post scores within 5 days!), Open Day Chair Lesley Thomas (registration portal is now open for all events), Team Play Chair Mary Ellen Maher (a playoff for the final spot in Division V is a possibility), Junior Chair Colleen Meyers (working hard to reach out to young girls with flyers and Facebook) and a review by Treasurer Kathy Campbell (assured us that Western is on firm financial footing) followed.

Secretary Sheila Kassel gave an overview of our WGAWP website and tips for navigating it. From log-in procedure to shopping for logo-embroidered items in the newly created online store, the website is more than a place to renew your membership and sign up for events: it is your best and most up-to-date source of information for all things related to the WGAWP.

President Morrissey concluded with the Executive Report, a link to which can be found on the home page, before the meeting was adjourned.  Your Executive Board has been working diligently to ensure that 2014 be an exciting season for golf for all!  Welcome Spring!
