USGA Rules Workshops Offered

It's not too late to register!

Have you always had an interest in the rules of golf?  Want to improve your knowledge?  Feel more confident playing in competitive events? Serving as a Tournament and Rules or Standing Rules Committee member?  Taking a USGA Rules of Golf workshop might be exactly what you want!

Since 1975, the PGA of America and the USGA, working together to support the best interests of the game, have offered to the public a series of workshops on the Rules of Golf. This annual cooperative effort brings together a significant number of the most knowledgeable thinkers and educators on the Rules of Golf to offer a variety of workshops around the United States for anyone interested in learning more about the worldwide code that governs the playing of the game.

The 2014 schedule offers 21 workshops throughout the country, beginning in early January. There are 3½-day and 2-day workshops available, and both programs are led by two instructors, one affiliated with the PGA of America and one affiliated with the United States Golf Association.

3½-Day Workshop

· Covers all 34 Rules of Golf, all the definitions and more than 100 decisions on the Rules of Golf.

· Presentations are done utilizing PowerPoint with photographs, illustrations, animations and videos, and include the unabridged text of every Rule and definition in the Rules of Golf.

The cost to attend is $300 and all attendees will receive the latest editions of The Rules of Golf, The Decisions on the Rules of Golf, The Principles Behind the Rules of Golf by Richard S. Tufts and online access to USGA University where there are a variety of study materials.

2-Day Workshop

· An overview of the 34 Rules of Golf, how The Rules of Golf and the Decisions on the Rules of Golf books are organized and presentations on the importance of the terms used in the Rules of Golf

· In-depth presentations on the fundamental Rules governing match and stroke play, playing the ball as it lies, playing the course as it is found and the Rules dealing with relief situations

The cost to attend is $150 and all attendees will receive the latest editions of The Rules of Golf, Golf Rules Illustrated, Decisions on the Rules of Golf, The Principles Behind the Rules of Golf by Richard S. Tufts and online access to USGA University where there are a variety of study materials.
