Womens Golf Association of Western Pennsylvania

Danielle Proctor of Sewickley Heights Country Club was named the Virginia Frew Wright Player of the Year at the 2012 WGAWP Fall Meeting held at Longue Vue Country Club.

In a closely contested battle for points during stroke play events this season, Danielle bested her closest competitior, Jane Wymer of Butler by a mere 2 points to claim the prestigious Virginia Frew Wright award.

The player accumulating the most points for finishes in individual stroke play tournaments throughout the season receives the Virginia Frew Wright Player of the Year award and pin. The pin was presented to WGAWP in 1995 by Richard Wright in honor of his mother who was the 4th ranked women's amateur in the United States in the 1920's. The pin is a replica of one that Virginia Frew Wright gave to her maid of honor, Helen Clay Frick in 1909.  A permanent plaque with the winners' names will be displayed at Edgewood Country Club.

Past WGAWP president and granddaughter of Ms. Wright, Barbara Russell, was on hand to present the awards to Danielle who joins the list of outstanding female amateur golfers in our region.
