Exciting Changes to Junior Golf Championship

We are proud to announce that the WGAWP Junior Girls Championship is now a 36-hole championship.  In addition to the new format change, the Junior Championship will also be recognized (ranked and promoted) by Junior Golf Scoreboard (JGS).

This recognition is exciting as Junior Golf Scoreboard is the premier resource used by college coaches in their recruiting process.  Coaches across the country trust this ranking system to identify standout players.  In fact, some college coaches will only look for their recruits based on the player’s ranking from this site.  Junior Golf Scoreboard was developed 20 years ago by a golf dad who realized there was no database of junior players.  He developed this site to track tournaments and juniors across the country using a formula which calculates multiple criteria such as strength of tournament (rates players in the field) and score differential in each tournament (score relative to par).

For a tournament to be ranked, it must be a 36-hole tournament and must have only juniors in the field (no college players or adults).   This JGS website lists rankings for male and female junior golfers by graduation year according to state.  There is also a ranking by graduation year with other juniors across the country.  Coaches have complete access to these rankings.

This is an exciting step for the WGAWP Junior Program!  Please spread the word to any juniors you know who may be interested in playing college golf!  Click the Junior tab in the navigation bar to register for the Junior Championship at Willowbrook Country Club on July 22 & 23.
