CLUB MEMBERSHIP
The Women's Golf Association of Western Pennsylvania (WGAWP) welcomes any private golf clubs in our area to become a member of our association. Requirements for club membership are:
1. Must be a member of the United States Golf Association
2. Must utilize the Golf Handicap Information Network (GHIN)
3. Must be a private 18 hole club.
4. Must pay a yearly membership fee of $50.
5. Must provide days for Tournaments, Team Matches & Open Days.
6. Agrees not to charge greens fees for WGAWP events.
7. Must have watered fairways.
8. Must have locker room and restaurant facilities.
INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION
The 2012 membership dues will be $90.00. An additional enrollment fee of $10.00 is necessary for all new applications and reinstatements.
ELIGIBILITY - Must be a member in good standing, who holds a full golfing membership, at a member club without restrictions as to number of times you may play and requiring payment of any greens fees.
RENEWALS - Eligible members who belonged to the WGAWP in 2011 may renew by returning the membership renewal card along with the membership dues to the WGAWP by APRIL 1. Members whose dues have not been received by this date must pay a $10.00 late fee and will be ineligible for all team matches.
NEW MEMBERS - Anyone who meets the eligibility standards as stated above may apply for membership by requesting her club WGAWP Handicap Chairman to submit a membership form listing her most recent twenty (20) attested eighteen (18) hole scores, the dates and the WGAWP clubs where played. SCORES FROM WGAWP COURSES, OTHER THAN HER HOME COURSE MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY PROPERLY DATED AND ATTESTED SCORE CARDS. Combined nine (9) hole scores WILL NOT be admissable for new membership into WGAWP. The form and member fee of $100.00 shall be sent to the WGAWP and will be accepted between March 1 and October 31.
Rounds must have been played during the WGAWP ACTIVE PERIOD AND AFTER HER CLUB MEMBERSHIP HAS BEEN ACTIVATED.
HANDICAP INDEX FOR MEMBERSHIP MUST BE 19.4 OR LESS.
REINSTATEMENTS - A former WGAWP member who belongs to a member club may be reinstated by submitting five (5) scores obtained within the past two years from any club with a USGA approved course rating and slope. There is no Handicap Index requirement.
Any reinstatement or new application for membership must be received via mail by the WGAWP at least five (5) working days preceding the MAIL IN DATE OR EMAIL DATE of the entry form for the tournament in which the player expects to compete.
At any time during the year should a member give up or lose her golfing privileges at a member club (even temporarily), she MUST relinquish her membership privileges in the Association by notifying her Club Delegate. The Delegate will notify the WGAWP of any changes in a member's status.
RESPONSIBLITIES OF MEMBERS
The current WGAWP membership tag MUST be prominently displayed on golf bags at all WGAWP events. A lost bag tag may be replaced for a fee of $4.00 by contacting wgawp@aol.com.
CONDUCT OF ANY MEMBER DEEMED INAPPROPRIATE BY THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE, AND/OR FAILURE BY ANY MEMBER TO COMPLY WITH THE DECISIONS AND INSTRUCTIONS OF THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE WILL RESULT IN SUSPENSION OF PLAYING PRIVILEGES FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE SEASON.
Our member clubs have dress codes. We request that all WGAWP members, including Juniors, wear only suitable golfing attire - NO JEANS OR DENIM, SHORT SHORTS, OR ABBREVIATED TOPS. Tournament Officials will enforce the dress code. JACKETS MAY BE REQUIRED AND TIES ARE OPTIONAL FOR MEN AT MIXED EVENT DINNERS (see entry form for details).
MIXED EVENTS - Upon acceptance into the field, dinner reservations are made for all participants, and this financial responsibility must be fulfilled. WITHDRAWAL FROM THE FIELD MUST BE MADE THROUGH THE RECORDING SECRETARY, ONLY THOSE RECEIVED BEFORE 3:00 P.M. THE DAY PRECEDING THE EVENT WILL BE EXCUSED FROM THIS FINANCIAL OBLIGATION.
Luncheon reservations for the Spring Meeting and Annual Fall Meeting must be cancelled ONLY THROUGH THE RECORDING SECRETARY BY 5:00 P.M. FRIDAY PRECEDING THE EVENT or the member will be held financially responsible.
The member clubs have extended to the Association the privileges of the golf course and clubhouse solely for the day's event. Contestants are expected to have lunch at the club whose hospitality they are enjoying. Do not embarrass the Association by asking to swim or play extra holes or by lingering inappropriately after the event.
Contestants who compete in a tournament held under the auspices of the Women's Golf Association of Western Pennsylvania do so at their own risk. The Committee and Association shall be relieved individually and collectively of all responsibility for any danger or injury sustained by contestants during any tournament or any property damage caused by a member.
