Welcome to Pinecrest and Williams

The Women's Golf Association of Western Pennsylvania is delighted to welcome two new clubs to the roster: Pinecrest Country Club and Williams Golf and Country Club!

Pinecrest, located in Brookville PA, is a charming, rolling layout that got its start from a donation of property by the Henderson family whose patriarch Sam wanted to share his love of golf with others.  Notably, Pinecrest is proud to be the home course of Nathan T. Smith, a highly decorated amateur golfer and West Penn's Player of the Decade.

Weirton Steel President J.C. Williams gave his approval to construct a golf course and clubhouse on a hilltop plot of land overlooking the Ohio River that was owned by Weirton Steel.  The first nine holes of Williams Country Club were developed in 1931 (with the help of then-greenskeeper from Oakmont) and expanded to eighteen in 1937.  When parent company National Steel dropped their Weirton division, the management and laborers took over the ownership to keep the club alive.  The club's membership assumed leadership until 2015 when James Markovitz purchased the club and changed its name to Williams Golf and Country Club.

Please be sure to welcome our new Western members from these clubs and patronize their Open Days on June 20 (Williams) and August 21 (Pinecrest)
